There are various reasons for which it is essential to take time off from work. On one hand the reason could be a death in the family or a sudden medical emergency and on the other hand it could be frivolous citing a hangover from over drinking or just being too lazy to get up and go to work. It could also be the need to take time off from the daily stressful office environment. Everybody needs a break and they always find a reason to stay away from work. The most convincing reasons that the employees come up with for taking leave are medical conditions. For this they use doctor’s note to substantiate their medical excuses. Well who would anyway grant you leave if the excuse on the leave application says, “too lazy to come to work”?

The most accepted medical excuse that the employees give relates to suffering from a cold virus. Colds are easily transmitted and a leave is therefore easily granted so that the other office staffs do not catch the infection. With giving the excuse of a cold, an employee can easily take at least two days off. Combine it with a weekend and you can get straight four days off from work.

Stomach cramps and stomach upsets are also commonly given as medical excuses for taking French leave. The best part is that there are no external tell tale signs of the ailment to let out your lie. This can be the best excuse to stay away from work and get a paid sick leave. A doctor’s note is all that is required to get you your leave without salary reduction.

Injuries, usually internal such as sprains and ligament or muscle tear are also given as medical excuses. The condition requires resting the injured part and it allows you to stay away from work. Strains and other injuries can also be used as an excuse to avoid certain office works that may involve use of the injured body part. A doctor’s note to this effect can keep you away from doing work in office. The note can mention what jobs are permissible and what are not because of the injuries.

Back pain and nerve disorders can also help in getting the work load at office reduced if there is a doctor’s note recommending it. Allergies can be successfully used for staying away from work or avoiding handling of certain solutions, especially in factories. Some skin conditions are also infectious, while they need to be properly diagnosed; they also work as a perfect medical excuse.

Here we have spoken of medical conditions that can be either true or fabricated but there are certain conditions where these medical excuses are absolutely genuine such as surgery or hospitalization due to authentic reasons. These genuine reasons actually permit you to stay away from work until you are fit enough to join back.

All these medical conditions will require a doctor’s note for you to claim a paid sick leave and ensure that your services are not terminated.
